Waiting for the World to Change

Well we have been very busy lately getting things to pop into place. We are moving forward with the fashion project and the ducks are starting to line up!! We are going to introduce a new member of the team to you and he (that's right) he will also be blogging away. So now you will get words of wisdom and advice from Janice, Kenny and me.

Kenneth Dunn is a great addition to our team. He is currently living in the East Bay and like Janice has expertise in retail and merchandising. If you are ever in Nordstrom's at the Westfield Center in San Francisco, cruise by Via C for a consult. I promise that if you leave with a purchase it will be something that you love and something that looks good on you. Kenny like Janice and me, will not let you leave the store with a garment or outfit that screams WHY DID YOU BUY THAT!!!

We believe in honesty in shopping. Like truth in lending, we will tell you not that one. It will not work for you. Or, try this, I think it will look fabulous on you. Okay, there are garments that they will not even let you try on. Shopping should not be a terrifying or disheartening experience.

Let's face it ladies, one of the reasons some of us hate shopping is because of the awful experiences we have had. We find a garment that we like the look of, we try it on and we look horrible in it. We got the size 10 because it is what we normally wear and we can't even get out leg in it. We do not pay attention to cut and silhouette. we just see something pretty and we go for it.

Well one of the things a specialist can help you do is avoid those "I hate my body" shopping experiences. Now Janice and Kenny are really good at making sure that does not happen to you. So if you are local, go in and establish a relationship with them now. The anniversary sale is coming and you can do a little pre-sale selection.

So here is today's bit of advice. Shopping on the Internet is convenient. However, it can also be frustrating. Every label has different sizing and just because you wear a size 10 in Calvin Klein, doesn't mean that you will wear a size 10 in Tree. You really need to try your items on for fit. You can't do that on the Internet. Now you are returning the item or wearing something that doesn't really fit well.

When someone offers to sell you a $5,000 coat out of a look book just say no! That is a really bad idea and it will be very disheartening when you have to take it back to the store because it didn't fit and they can't find the right size anywhere in the system. Or, they didn't order your size and there is no way to let the shoulders out enough to make it a comfortable fit. Real look books are for those who are dreaming and want to place large orders. They were not originally designed to be used by the general public for shopping.

If you want to see the garments in person, it is about to be trunk show season. Go check a few of them out. It is generally a great way to see more of the designer's collection than the store included in the buy.

Have fun shopping ladies!!!
